can't syncronize
by toni hernández - Tuesday, 17 March 2009, 10:17 AM

hi,
I have been trying to synchronised a presentation with a video but I haven't succeeded yet.

I can load the video and the presentation files but when I go to "times and Titles" and click on the "Move and Set" nothing happens. In fact I can't see any input for the added times (attached image).

I reinstall it and it work for a while (I could see the input times for slides). When I changed the presentation file all times for slides disappear.

I have moodle 1.9.3 and I think this should work fine. Am I wrong?
thanks in advance.

There isn't really enough information here to fully diagnose a problem, however here are some thoughts :

Move and Set not working :

1) You haven't set the number of slides in the presentation.
2) Something is blocking javascript from accessing the flash plugin.

The rendering of your screenshot looks like firefox. If you open the error console, clear it to remove any errors already present and then click Move and Set do you get any new error messages ?

Quote "When I changed the presentation file all times for slides disappear"

Which file do you mean ? If you mean the .avx file specified in the presentation config, then this is what I would expect to happen, the presentation information is stored in this file, so if you change to a different one, you are effectively creating a new blank presentation.

If you mean the presentation slides, then if you delete all the slide sources for any given language (you probably only have the one slide source per language), then the slide times and titles associated with that slide source/language will disappear, deleting the slides deletes everything associated with those slides. If you want to change the presentation slides without this happening, then edit the slide source, rather than deleting it, or add a new one before deleting the old one.

Hi,
sorry about the poor description.

The problem was I had deleted the presentation slides. That is the file I was refering to. Then I created a new Autoview and the problem was solved.
The synchronitzation works but still I got two errors from the error console:

Error: fdata is not defined
file: ..../moodle193/mod/autoview/avedit/lang/pt.js
line: 56

Error: rules[i].selectorText is undefined
File: .../moodle193/mod/autoview/import-theme.js
Line: 73

Thanks a lot.
Congratulations for the module.

Glad to hear the problem is solved !

The theme error isn't critical, but the pt.js file shouldn't be giving an error so i'll look into this.

Hi Toni and Williams!

I have got the same or similar problem with my install. Moodle 1.9.3.+ and the latest form Autoview. I can import my flv video, import my slides (swf). Durind the slide adding I can see the slide's picture in a proper way, but after uploading all of them the prev/next button does not work, the first slide is on the screen.

Interesting, but synchronization seems to be ok, I can record the time for each slides (but only the first slide is on the screen), but at replaying only the first slide...

I have set the number of slides correctly and no error message in FF.

This seems to be one of the greatest module in moodle, so I would like to make it work.
Pls. help, if you can.

Thanks for it, Arnold

Possibilities :

1) Something is upsetting the interaction between firefox and flash. Try updating flash and firefox to the latest versions and see if that helps.

2) Check that the drop down slide titles box has been populated with the correct number of placeholder titles after setting the number of slides. If it isn't repeat the operation while watching the firefox error console.

Hi!

Thanks for your help. I have tried your demo site, and I could see it with full functionality, so the problem should be something else.

A have changed the slide type to "image", converted the files, and everything works fine, so I think there is something wrong with the swf format.

Thx, Arnold

Please Note : the demo version has both images and SWF slides, it will automatically fall back to the images if a problem is detected (it can detect some but not all problems), so make sure this isn't what was happening when you viewed the demo.

As for the flash file, you must use a SWF export from OpenOffice with the Flash/OpenOffice slide type. You might get other types of SWF file to work with with the Flash/AutoView convertor type, but OpenOffice is the only one that is certain to work properly.
