i m a teacher & i want to upload my video lectures on moodle. i have recordings of my lectures with samsung camcorder which records files in MP4 (H.264). i have converted my video with the help of windows media encoder and got video files in wmv format which are very less in size and of good quality.
> i want to install autoview in moodle for playing those wmv files progressively. my server provider has told me that he has installed autoview player to my moodle site. but when i upload the files it does not run progressively. only flv files i see like embedded and runs progressivly.

> (1) how to install autoview;

Instructions for installing AutoView are included in AutoView download, just open up readme.txt included in the zip file you downloaded from this website. If your hosting provider has already installed AutoView, then you should not need to take any further action yourself. AutoView should already be listed in the 'Add Resource' drop down box and on the Modules>Activities page of the Moodle Site Administration. If it isn't then you should talk to your hosting provider again.

Moodle dosn't have any mechanism by which you can set a default for playing videos.

No, you do not need to write any code.

When you add video to a Moodle course, you choose the resource type which you wish to play that video, so if you want AutoView, you would need to choose it from the 'Add Resource' drop down box when you are in the Moodle editing mode on a course home page. Once you have chosen AutoView, you will then need to add your video as a Windows Media source.
